Event Description: Baiocchi Skwala Hatch Workshop

Weekday Trip

Description:

TVFF is offering a Skwala workshop outing for 4 anglers each day (1 on the weekend, 1 during the weekday) on the lower Yuba river near Marysville and the Highway 20 bridge with Jon Baiocchi. Jon has been a recent speaker at the club and the Yuba has been his home river for over 20 years. In this one day workshop Jon will provide key information to be successful with the current Skwala hatch on Dry Fly/Dry Dropper and nymphing presentations and tactics specifically for the Skwala stonefly hatch, including Leader Formulas, Fly Recommendations, Access Areas, local inside knowledge, insight on the hatch and all the details that pertain to it. Leaders, tippets, lunch, drinks, and handouts included.

The Skwala hatch has been widely promoted in the early season, and the wild trout and steelhead that live in the Yuba River key in on this first big meal of the new year. Fishing a Skwala dry is the most rewarding way to catch large educated trout on the Yuba, and seeing the take happen in real time is the epitome of fly fishing. The Yuba River has one of the best Skwala hatches found in the west, and it is the perfect classroom to hone your skills and your ability to match the hatch for challenging trout and steelhead. You will learn much from this most informative workshop centered on entomology that you can apply all over the west.

This workshop has been moved up in the year to avoid the high water potential cancellation, as we had last year, and to equip TVFF anglers with the skills to return to the river and fish successfully on their own until the end of the hatch in mid-March.

Costs:

Cost covers the workshop only and does not include flies or leaders that Jon will communicate to all attendees well ahead of time for purchase. Everyone will also need to bring along their lunch. As this is an easy day trip up and back it also does not include any accommodations.

Cash price: You may pay by check or cash directly to the Club Treasurer within two weeks of registration and not pay the credit card surcharge of 3.0% if you desire. If you do pay cash you will be put into "Pending Registration" until your payment is received within the two weeks. TVFF Cancellation Policy:

To sign-up for a TVFF Event  that is currently open for registration and chargeable (as set by the Fishmeister), you must both register and pay online, or via check or cash, within two weeks of registering (sent to the TVFF Treasurer) whatever fee is described for that particular Event (trip) at the time of registration. There may be multiple payments required before the trip is actually taken (usually in the case of expensive trips), but it is necessary that you do make payment in the above timely fashion for the initial amount to secure your position on the trip.  However, please note that you are still responsible for the entire amount of the trip if you should need to cancel.

Once you are registered, there are no refunds for chargeable Events and trips.  In the situation that a member is, for any reason unable to attend, they may resell their registration slot to another TVFF member (by first pulling from the waitlist if one exists).  New participants must come first from the waitlist in the order they signed up.  The member cancelling is fully and solely responsible for contacting potential members to replace them and notifying the appropriate Fishmeister.

If an event/trip is fully registered and closed to registration, you may still sign up on the Wait List to be notified if there are any cancellations.  In such a case of registering provisionally on the Wait List, you do not have to pay until such time that you clear the Wait List and are confirmed for participation.
