WESTERN NATIVE TROUT CHALLENGE - LAURIE BANKS AND KEN DAVIS
The Western Native Trout Challenge involves chasing and catching 18 native trout across 12 western states. There are multiple levels to the challenge. Laurie Banks is a past president of California Fly Fishers Unlimited based in Sacramento. She and her partner, Ken Davis recently completed this challenge and have developed a talk to share their experience and help other anglers with their Western Native Trout Challenge.
“ The challenge is an incredible experience! It took us out of our comfort zone, away from our home waters. We saw beautiful country and fish species we had never seen before all because of this undertaking. Ken and I (Laurie) made so many incredible memories and are eager to share our enthusiasm for this quest with other fly fishers. If you enjoyed or are considering pursuing the California Heritage Trout Challenge or any of the Cutt Slams you will appreciate this “Mother of all Slams”. We are surprised at how many fly fishers are unaware of its existence. We have prepared a Zoom presentation designed to get people excited to pursue this challenge and introduce fly fishers to this program. Ken and I have navigated this challenge and have great insight into ways to achieve success.” Laurie Banks. I have heard their talk once already and can’t wait to hear it again.
