September Fly Tying Get Together

Ants

Ants are on the menu for this month's Get Together. A few of these little guys should have a corner in all our fly boxes. Late summer and early fall are prime time to fish ants. Drift them close to the bank under brush or over hanging tree limbs. If you're lucky, you'll catch a flying ant swarm as they are heading out to establish new colonies.

Bring your favorite pattern or ideas to share at the meeting.

Suggested materials:

• dry fly hooks size 12 to 20
• 140 denier thread (6/0) in black, brown, cinnamon, maybe a little red
• Black, brown, cinnamon dubbing
• black, brown deer or elk hair
• Black hackle
• UV resin
